This was the second post-war Bentley, replacing the Bentley Mark VI. The only differences to the Mark VI were a larger engine and a larger boot. It was seen as a temporary model ahead of the new Bentley S-series introduced in 1955.
This Bentley model is almost identical to the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn. However 2323 Bentleys were built and only 760 Silver Dawns.
This car is built by Bentley but many R-Types were modified by coachbuilding firms - today an R-Type Continental built by H.J.Mulliner can be worth up to one million pounds.
The R-Type had a maximum speed of 164kph and accelerated to 100kph in approx 13.3secs.
This particular car has been subject to extensive and costly renovations over a prolonged period. In April 2017 this car made a trouble-free tour of nearly 3000km.
