In 1961 Jaguar replaced the XK150 with the new E-type. It caused a sensation because of it's beauty and also because it was about half the price of a Ferrari or Aston Martin. Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made". It was based upon the D-type racing Jaguar which had won LeMans in 3 consecutive years. With a top speed of 241kph and acceleration 0-100kph in under 7 seconds it was fast as well as beautiful. The Series 3 E-type was built from 1971 to 1975. It used an entirely new 5.3litre V12 engine developed for Le Mans racing , plus improved brakes and power steering. It was available as a roadster or FHC.
This particular car was supplied by a Jaguar dealership in Belgium in British Racing Green colour. The new owner took it home to show his wife - she liked the car but not the colour so it was returned to Jaguar and it was repainted in the colour that you see today! With just 2 previous owners this car was completely rebuilt and renovated by the original supplying Jaguar dealership at the end of the 90's. It joined the collection in 2011.
