After the war Jaguar developed the new "XK" engine and needed a new sports car to put it into. The XK120 was launched at the 1948 London motor show and was an immediate success. The first drophead was delivered to Clark Gable. The car and engines were very successful in racing and endurance events and set many speed records. In racing form as the "C" type and "D"type the XK Jaguars won Le Mans races in 1951, 1953, 1955, 1956 & 1957. The XK120 was produced 1948-1954 and was replaced by the XK140 from 1954 to 1957. The final series was the XK150 built from 1957 to 1961. It was replaced by the E type Jaguar.
A total of 9382 XK150's were built of which 4445 were the fixed head format seen here.
This particular car was sold to Brian Roger Cox in 1959 and on his death in early 2000's it passed to his son Roger Brian Cox. It has been fully restored and upgraded with a 5-speed gearbox and uprated brakes and cooling and changed from the original white to Indigo Blue. It came into the Bulldog Collection in 2011 and has only driven approx 1000kms since the restoration and engine rebuild.
